Guide to add download button to the product page in Shopify theme

Introduction

Uplift your customers experience by offering a download/access button within product page in Shopify theme. Sellzzy's download button app block allows customers to easily access their digital purchases without the need to shift through old emails or locate order links and track which product has already been purchased or has access to the customer.

Access the Theme Editor

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin.

  2. Navigate to Online Store → Themes.

  3. Locate the theme where you want to add the extension and click Customize.

Add the Extension to the Product Page

  1. In the theme editor, use the page dropdown menu at the top to select Products → Default Product.

  2. On the left-hand sidebar, click Add block or Add section

  3. Click Apps
    ​

  4. Look for the extension under the name Download Button

  5. Click on the extension to add it to the product page layout.

Configure the Extension Settings

  1. Once the extension is added, click on the extension in the left-hand sidebar and you’ll see its settings in the left-hand sidebar.

  2. Customise the following options:

    • Background Color: Set the background color of the button.

    • Text Color: Set the text color of the button.

    • Button Text: Edit the text displayed on the button (e.g., "Download" or "Access").

    • Font Size: Adjust the font size of the button text.

    • Preview Access Button: Preview the product access button. As only one button will be added once.

Preview the Extension

  1. After saving your changes, preview the product page to ensure the extension is visible and functioning as expected.

  2. Ensure the button behaves as intended:

    • If the product is purchased and fulfilled, the download button appears.

    • If the product hasn’t been purchased, the default "Add to Cart" and "Buy Now" button appears.

Verify Functionality

  1. Test the extension by previewing a product that matches the purchase and fulfilment conditions:

    • Ensure the correct button (Download/Access) appears for eligible products.

    • Ensure the link opens in a new tab when clicked.

Additional Notes

  • The extension uses dynamic data like product ID, customer ID, and fulfilment status to control the button display and functionality. These are managed automatically.

To remove the extension, go back to the theme editor, locate the extension block/section, and click Remove Block or Remove Section.
